Tenerife South Airport (TFS) Transfers Explained
Tenerife South Airport (TFS, officially Reina Sofía) handles almost all holiday traffic to the island, and it’s genuinely close to the main south-coast resorts — most transfers to Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos take well under 30 minutes.
Private vs shared vs taxi
| Option | Approx. time to Costa Adeje | Notes | Book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | ~20 min | Direct to your hotel, fixed price, good for late arrivals | See options |
| Shared shuttle | ~30–45 min | Cheaper, but stops at other hotels first | See options |
| Taxi rank | ~20 min | No booking needed, metered fare |
Which resort areas are closest
Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas are the closest major resort areas to TFS, followed by Costa Adeje a little further along the coast. If you’re staying further west (e.g. near Los Gigantes) or in the north, budget significantly more time — see our general Tenerife airport transfers guide for those routes.
Practical tips
- Night flights are common on this route — many budget airlines land at TFS late in the evening. A pre-booked private transfer avoids taxi queues at 11pm.
- Confirm your hotel is on the shared shuttle’s route if you book one — some shared services only cover the main resort strips.
- If you’re renting a car, most desks are inside or immediately outside the terminal — see our car hire at Tenerife airport guide.
